This gun is at least 5 years old I believe (more around 8 I think).  It has been out of production and is quite a find for such an old gun.  Many would consider older ASG to be more inferior when compared to today's AEGs and newer, better performing gas guns.  Though, as some would argue (Poncho, I bet you'd have something to say on this!), many older gas guns (most notably rifles), made by such companies as JAC and Asahi, are actually constructed much better, and do perform better (with the right combo of ext. gas tanks and upgrade parts) than many of today's ASG.  The Spectre does justice to this belief.  I will never understood why there has not been more said about this gun because it is probably one of the best airsoft sub-machineguns ever made.  I have used the WA mac11, Maruzen mac11, KSC TMP, and a number of others, so I do have some experience to comment on the subject of SMGs.  So far, the Spectre has done nothing but impress me. Looks First off, the Spectre has a nice textured black (slightly gray) finish to it.  It isn't smooth, and has a fine grainy texture to it.  On top of this, it has all the authentic parts, such as the cocking handle (moves but, no blowback), safety, select fire switch, mag release, etc.  All these are standard parts to have so there is no surprise there.  Though, to hold and look at this Spectre, just gives you this great feeling that cannot be explained.  The finish is most definitely 10x better than any TM AEG.  All the metal parts included are: sling swivel, front/rear sight (rear sight has option of attaching a folding stock), mag release, trigger, rear butt cap, safety, selector switch, cocking handle, ejection port cover, and gas intake port.  There really isn't anything more to be said other than the fact that this is just one of the coolest guns you have ever seen! Function Well, this is by far the best part of the Spectre.  I was very alarmed when I first fired the gun.  To put things short, I nearly fainted at the sight and sound of this new BB HOSE I just discovered.  Well, one thing to be mentioned first is that the gun is only external gas.  I was able to rig the gun using a KWC external gas tank adapter, available from many US ASG retailers for only around $20-$30.  This is a good thing because it is simple, although cumbersome.  Also, it is much cheaper than the $250 external tank I almost purchased from Japan!  While it is no where near as good of an external tank setup, the KWC ext. tank adapter comes with an empty can, so that the gas can expand inside of it, rather than expanding directly into the gun at high pressure.  Now, because of this, I can safely use Hfc22 Taiwanese green gas and it does not damage the gun.  Turning the valve, as much as possible, increases the pressure a little.  All that must be done is to cut the silver metal connector off of the hose on the external tank adapter.  This leaves a plain coiled hose, that fits perfectly into the port on the bottom of the grip.  While running around with 2 cans is a pain in the butt, it is worth it when you here the next few sentences! Using regulated Hfc22 and .2g bbs, the Spectre can easily shoot around 280 FPS (maybe a little more).  Though, the range is surprising for such an old, non-hopup SMG.  It will put the .2g bbs out to around 120ft max, and straight at this range too!  Usually, non-hopup guns don't have very good range, and probably only shoot about 50ft (I am only referring to non-hopup handguns and some SMGs) and maybe a little farther.  Though, it shoots good enough that it is effective for medium, and maybe some slightly long range.  Though, it is most definitely the best for CQB!  The thing that is amazing about this gun is the design.  From looking on the internal schematics on the Manual, it appears to have a very ingenious, yet simple valve design.  The valve seems to be a square piece located just behind the barrel.  Now, when the gas is connected and the trigger is depressed, instead of having some sort of piston that moves back and forth, it seems to just open the valve and shoot a constant jet of air until the trigger is let go.  I am not completely sure on that but, that is what I understand from studying the gun, its performance, and the diagrams.  That makes it more simple than most other gas SMGs, yet it easily beats a majority of them! Now, the part you were all wondering about after reading the stats, the ROF! I used a stop watch, loaded a specific amount of rounds (exactly), and calculated exactly how long it took to empty the 60rds.  It took 2 seconds, exactly, to empty the whole 60rds!  When calculated out, this means the Spectre achieves an amazing 1800 rounds per minute!!!!!!!!!!  As far as I know, this is previously UNHEARD of in most airsoft SMGs or, even rifles for that matter!  I know someone will probably joke about it but, it actually DOES look like a solid white line coming out of the gun when you shoot the bbs!  This is the best reason to buy this gun, if you EVER have a chance to get one (not likely). :-( Summary Well, what can I say.  The gun has excellent range for its age and the fact that it doesn't have hopup.  It also has looks and detail, in spades!  To top this off, it has the fastest ROF I've ever seen from an SMG (I dare anyone to find a faster SMG!).  There really is nothing more to say. The guns performance and looks speak for itself.  I don't know how popular this gun is in Japan, its country of origin, but, it seems to be a much overlooked classic ASG SMG.  I just don't think this gun can be beat for CQB, and I dare anyone to prove me wrong!  As I said above, if you ever, even remotely, have the chance to get a hold of a Spectre, buy it on the spot even if you have to sell a kidney!  This gun brings true meaning to the term "BB Hose"!
