M9 Electric BlowBack Pistol Review... Finally!
Imagine a 1:1 full-scale handgun with recoiling slide, powered by 4 AAA alkaline batteries! Paul decided to answer everyone's questions by sending this link to RedWolf's review of the M9 electric blowback airsoft pistol from Tokyo Marui. It's the most comprehensive evaluation of the eagerly-awaited EBB I've seen so far. According to Paul, if your expectations are set correctly, this M9 EBB is certainly worth getting...

Walther P99 Review
Sniper recently posted his review on the AirSoftGuns discussion board:
Quote:Well, today was the day that I picked up a sweet airsoft gun for a friend (hope you like it Steve..) and I finally got my lunch hooks on the new P99. I was deciding between the Infinity 5" version and the Walther. I chose the P99 this visit for a few reasons, but not to say the new Invfinity version isn't any good because I like it more than the 6". The P99 is very well balanced. It has a slim profile, which is pleasant to grip, and less bulky in a holster. There isn't a real safety on the gun, only the decocker, which is real easy to use one handed and only takes very little pressure to use. Lefties will have a hard time though.... The mag release is ambidextrious, and is easy to release with either the thumb or trigger finger. The back strap is replaceable with different sizes. The purpose of that is to help obtain the proper grip and angle for people with different hand sizes. The over all ergonomics of the gun are outstanding. It feels very natural in the hand and instinctive pointability. All the markings are there and very sharp and clear. The gun features a large trigger guard and a small rail under the barrel for smaller accessories. The manual states the gun puts out a very respectable .58j with .2 bb's. Most gas handguns are between .4j and .5j, with a limited few going above that. The magazine capacity is 20+1, not as much as the current hi caps. The gun doesn't seem to be a gas hog either..it takes no time to fill it, and I can get about 2 magazines out of a charge. The recoil is very sharp, on the lines of the Western Arms 1911 hi cap guns. It feels very powerful and satisfying to shoot. Accuracy is quite good, and the adjustable hop up is a good bonus when changing from different weight bb's. The trigger is the only fault I can really find with this gun. It takes some getting used to, but it isn't unmanagable. The double action has a bit of a long pull, and feels a bit "spongy". Single action is good, but not as crisp and smooth as my M8000...which in my opinion has the best single AND double action of any airsoft I have fired. Pure sweetness..... Take down is real easy, and can be done in 5 seconds or less. 1. Drop the magazine 2. Decock 3. Pull down take down "block" (above trigger) and pull trigger forward 4. Pull slide forward and off. Assembly is even easier... 1. Allign slide with rail and pull all the way back 2. Insert magazine 3. Shoot. Over all, it's a super gun, ideal for carry and back up. People with small and medium hands will thank God for this gun. All the controls are in the right places and very easy to operate (I have medium hands..on the small side). The grip is super comfortable, not blocky like a Glock, but not thick like a 1911 hi cap. The gun also packs a wallop, very surprising from a airsoft of this size. I think Maruzen really did their homework on the new gas system. If you can get used to the trigger, you will have a definate winner.

Op: Black Star
John sent this:
Quote:" Operation: Black Star promises to be the first organized airsoft game in the Florida area. It is to be held on 400 acre paintball field in Tampa, Florida on December 4th and 5th. Several scenarios are in the mix, along with night games and an overnight camping experience. Response to this event has been great thus far, and this should be a great opportunity for people in the south to get together and meet face to face.
Another highlight is the fact that Michael Frost of MFI has teamed up with event promoter John Oliva to help make this event a success. MFI will be donating a MARUI M-16A2 package, which will include a battery and charger along with a MFI tactical sling and a Colt-style scope! Every player at Operation: Black Star will be eligible for the random drawing! Someone will be taking home a new toy! Many thanks go out to MFI for taking interest in Operation: Black Star.
Cost for the event is being kept at a minimum...$10 for one day or $15 for both. There will be no extra charge for camping. It should be noted that the event coordinator is John Oliva, who has no ties with the field owner. You may contact him at jjo74@aol.com , with any questions you may have. We hope that you will join us in making Florida's first airsoft event a great one!
Thanks again,
John Oliva

Op: Jack'O'Lantern
KingSensei sent this:
Quote:Operation Swamp Monster successfully reduced the opposition of the MLLF (Moss Land Liberation Front) to only a small band of rebels. They were receiving their arms from an unknown source; This source has agents in Moss Land still bent on the overthrough of the President of Moss Land El Gato.
We do not know if this is a cruel trick or a person with a sick sense of humor but, we received word from one of our agents that a member of the MLLF is about to defect and wants garentees of safety to the US for his family he is willing to give in exchange information on the names of the MLLF, arms dealers to the MLLF and the organization that provides funding for the MLLF.
This will be done by this individual placing this information on three discs in one each in Jack -O- Lanterns placed in the Moss Land Swamp. The locations of the pumpkins will be placed at the destroyed El Mon Key’s SCUD sites 3,5 and 6.
MISSION ORDERS
Delta Force 1:

2. Then link up with Mike Force 2 to assist in retrieving the discs.
Mike Force 2:
Retrieve the discs from the pumkins and be extracted with Delta Force 1 on DZ Foxtrot at 1400 hrs.
MLLF Secret HHQ report and mission orders:
A secret message to the Americans has been intercepted. We have a trader who will give the whole organization over the Americans and the pig El Gato. The message was garbled but the trader will be picked up by the Americans and there was something about pumpkins. Eliminate and non MLLF forces in the Moss Land Swamp, kill the trader and take the pumpkins to the destroyed EL MON KEY SCUD site #______ and hold them there until 1400 hours at which time intel team will take them back to HHQ.

Harsh Realm on Fox TV
APEC sent this:
Quote:I know all of you guys out there are interested in what movies or TV shows use airsoft guns. Well, the new TV series "Harsh Realm" uses airsoft, mainly in its non-firing scenes.
Harsh Realm is a new sci-fi TV series premiering tonight. All of the gun props used in this new series will be airsoft. So watch for your favorite airsoft gun on Harsh Realm.
Harsh Realm is filmed in Vancouver B.C. and is Chris Carters new production. If you do not happen to know who Chris Carter is: he is the person who produced X-Files. Season premier 9:00 Pacific on Fox network.
Other shows that uses airsoft guns are "Star Gate," and "Le Femme Nikita." The new series "Relic Hunter" starring Tia Carrera will use airsoft guns as props as well. I also just heard that Star Gate which uses the Tokyo Marui MP5's will now convert over to P90's, so watch for that soon.

Open Letter Re AirSoft in North America
APEC sent this (please excuse the typos... I guess he was typing fast):
Quote:Dear Fellow Airsofters,
The new bill C68 will not affect the sales of Airsoft guns to the United States. First of all this law deals with replicas in Canada not the US. As you all know that there is a wide variety of Airsoft guns and not all of them are classified as replicas in Canada. There are three categories that Airsoft guns fall into replicas, toy guns and firearms. If a Airsoft gun has some sort of distinguishing characteristic such as parts of it are made of see through plastic, size is recognizably different or a muzzle that is coloured in bright orange material are all characteristics of a toy gun is deemed not to be a replica. Another important point is if the Airsoft gun is capable of causing serious bodily harm than it is classified as a firearm as opposed to a replica. If an Airsoft gun is incapable of causing serious harm and has no identifying marks than it is deemed to be a replica. If you own replicas they are allowed to be exported out of the country to a place that permits replicas. So if you own an Airsoft gun that is a replica then it can be sent to the US just as long as it meets their requirements. Tokyo Marui has agreed to supply Asia Pacific with special types of Airsoft guns that have distinguishing markings such as the handguards are manufactured in bright orange material. Marui already has offered this program to Taiwan, Korea Germany and other countries that have strict replica laws and has found to be satisfactory in complying with their laws. Asia Pacific has received airguns that bear these modifications and asked Canada Customs for a ruling and will keep you posted as to the outcome of the ruling. Asia Pacific has also petitioned that certain types of Airsoft guns do fall within the thresh hold of causing serious bodily injury there fore should be classified as Firearms. If you or any person is uncertain as to the classification please contact your Firearms Center and ask for their assistance. Notice if however you do purchase an airsoft gun and it falls under the characteristics of a replica then it cannot be shipped back to Canada it can only leave.
Tokyo Marui will be cracking down on grey marketers to stop the unauthorized flow of it’s Electric Air rifles to the US. Marui specifically states due to liability issues and possible law suits from real gun manufacturers that it does not want to leave itself open and does not want to jeopardize it’s current relations with real steel manufacturers. Right now Marui Exports only 10% of it’s product yearly to other countries and will see to it that all exports stop if grey marketing endangers current licensing contracts that Marui enjoys having in Japan. Marui has also requested rulings and sent samples to the necessary Government agencies to determine wether the proper modifications will allow the import of airsoft guns into the country. Also a specific contract must be set up between real steel manufacturers and Marui’s representative in the United States to allow the use of their trademarks. Due to many seizures from overseas markets and pressure by US Customs Marui , real steel makers is trying to clean up it’s image so that it may not be in order for Marui Airsoft guns Does not want to be black listed by US government regulatory bodies and destroying a market that has potential in the future. In the future once all the legal obstacles are passed Marui will allow the importation of special modified versions of it’s products to enter into the United States. Marui will announce to every one what the special modifications will have . Marui also plans to enforce it’s territorial rights agreements with countries that are overstepping it’s boundaries and will issue letters of warnings to dealers or distributors that have been known to do that. If the requests are not followed through than they will elect a lawyer from that country to enforce the actions..

Harsh Realm
Peter of APEC sent this:
Quote:...just got off the phone with Jim Teetzel, the President of Wilcox Industries. I was talking to him because we are trying to push his product to be used in a new television series called Harsh Realm. Harsh Realm is Chris Carter's new production in Vancouver because X files went back to LA. I would gladly like every one to know that all of the guns used in this production will be a mix of real and Airsoft guns so look forward to seeing your favourite Airsoft gun on Harsh Realm. Jim says that Ichiro Nagata will be visiting Wilcox in a week to photograph 6 Navy Seals for one of his adds. Jim works with the Optics and sighting division of the Seal team and told me that he will try and get me a contact on the Seal team so we can send them a sample of our Systema's Complete guns for training review . Currently the Seal team only uses simunition in training but it is limited to semiauto fire only, we hope that by using airsoft they can add a little more realism to their training scenarios.
