Systema Signature Series AEGs... more details from APEC
Ever since Asia Pacific announced their joint venture with Systema to create Systema USA (see the News from June 10th below), there has been lots of interest in the Systema Signature Series AEGs... and lots of questions. Well, here are some answers from APEC:
Quote:We at Asia Pacific carry these Systema complete airsofts. The only Tokyo Marui parts on these AEGs are the motors, the cap plates, and maybe a few screws. These AEGs are completely modified using mainly Systema parts, except for the metal body which is made by OK or Rights. Systema is starting to build their own metal bodies: they just purchased the mold from Craft Apple Designs so their version of the metal body will be produced in the begining of June. The parts if you were to buy separately would cost you 50% more than the price of the assembled airsoft. You can also specify exactly what you want, e.g. high speed vs high velocity, and silent type vs noise effect type. These models are assembled by Systema and is a work of art by far the best and most complete AEG I have ever seen. A lot of the parts are original real steel parts, for example, the hand guards are real Canadian issue A2 hand guards, and the carrying handle is a real M4 handle. Plus, they have the Systema complete ProGear MechaBox, Systema stainless barrels (inner and outer), inner/outer reinforcement barrel. I can't begin to list all of the parts. See our site for a complete description http://www.air-soft.com.
We at APEC guarantee your Systema AEG satisfaction or your money back, excluding to and from shipping charges and a one week expiry. We also have a warranty.
Father's Day Skirmish
Valkyrie sent this email regarding the airsoft game held on Father's Day (yesterday for those of you unfamiliar with US traditions).
Quote:Just want to thank the players that made it out to the June game. It was a blast and the weather was perfect for a day of skirmishes and training exercises. A great time was had by all that came out. Everyone gave a big round of applause to Owens Outpost for waiving the field fees for Fathers Day.
Even though the turnout was low.... those of us that came out had a great day of free airsoft. Congrats to Arnold for taking home the Tokyo Marui Tracer unit from Valkyrie Air.
We would also like to announce the addition of Arnold Lucero as the newest member of the Valkyrie Air company team.
Once again, thanks to those that came out and played on Sunday. Wish more of you could have made it out. Maybe we will see you next month.
Mike.

Stockholm Skirmishing!
Tommy Mellberg of Huddinge AirSoft sent some email requesting feedback regarding his plan for spreading the joy of airsoft skirmishing in Sweden. It's always good to see people playing... or preparing to play!
Quote:Hi, my name is Tommy Mellberg.
I plan to start a company that will rent out AirSoft Guns (AEG's) in Stockholm (Capital city of Sweden).
All I need to know is if there's any public interest! That's why I want everyone that would be interested in renting AirSoft guns in Stockholm to go to my web-site and "vote". If I get more than 60 votes I will start thinking about it, if I get more than 100, then I'll buy the guns ASAP!
I hoped that you could mention this in the news, so that all swedish airsofters will find the site!

KSC Rail-Frame Glock 17 Review
AirSoftGuns.com posted Skyfire's first look at KSC's newest gas blowback... KSC's response to the Tanaka rail-frame Glock 17.
Quote:Not to be outdone, KSC has released its own version of the rail frame Glock 17 one week later than Tanaka! Using the same valve technology as the 93R and MK23, KSC's new offering looks identical to the Tanaka version (so we'll spare you the photo), though the plastic finishing on the lower frame is a little shinier. KSC's version also sports an internal hammer and a hidden valve stem (concealed by a sliding butt plate). The buttplate on the KSC is actually more elegant than that of the Tanaka's since there isn't a tell-tale button like the Tanaka - rather the switch to unlock the buttplate is located on the spine of the magazine which is not visible when the magazine is inserted into the gun. Of worthy mention is the unique safety design; flipping up the lower part of the two-piece trigger prevents the trigger from being pulled (at least not too easily). Weight and balancel are about the same as the Tanaka. KSC's version is also rated for HFC134a but the blowback action feels a little stronger than the Tanaka's...
Tanaka Rail-Frame Glock 17 Review
RedWolf posted NightOwl's review of the new rail-framed Glock 17 gas blowback airsoft from Tanaka Works. This comprehesive evaluation includes a comparison with Omega's gas blowback version of the non-rail-framed Glock 17.

Electric BlowBack Pistols?!
Here's an extremely exciting scoop I discovered on a BAASH-mate's site BillyBob's AirSoft Jamboree
Quote:There was a toy show in Japan May 20-23 and here are exciting new products from Marui. Taken from syanage's web site with out his permission (sorry)
Now most of you know about the Thomson AEG, the M3 Benelli Shotgun, the M9, and the truck load of accessories for the M4.
Thomson - No text, just the cool picture of the prototype.
Benelli Shotgun - he had this to say. The M3 features: rubber coated pistol grip, adjustable rear sight, Ambidextrous Safety, Has a smaller pump than the SPAS, uses the same shell/magazine system as the SPAS. It should be out in Augest.
M9 - It's a GBB, it holds 26 rounds and is due out in Augest.
M4 assesories - Marui is making: their version of the RIS and the front grip, a mock laser unit that hides a mini battery, a double magazine clamp, a red dot scopt mount, and a flip up rear sight.
Now here is what you haven't heard.
A series of electric blowback handguns - It uses a motor to cock the piston and work the slide. ( My god there may be some truth in that article in Toy Gun News. Be afraid... be very afraid) The guns are not very powerful since it can not handel alot of torq so expect power equal to those cute mini AEGs. The gun is powered by 4 AA batteries. The series starts off with the M9 and continue with the Cintermeter Master, USP, and Ruger P9X. Oh, and the best part of the electric blowback handguns is ... MSRP 2,980 yen!! or @$25bucks!!!
The next Mini AEG - A Mini Uzi ( 1.. 2.. 3.. Ahh... how cute!!)
Two new Springers - STI Edge 6.0 and the HK Mk23 SOCOM. ( na ... na na ...na ..na .KSC)
Quote:Was rereading syanage's web site about all of the new airsoft Marui plan to release this year and found a cople of things I missed the first time around.
The Electric Blowback pistols may be the HOT product of 1999-2000 . It has a safety lever on the front strap right under the trigger guard. This safety must be depressed for the gun to operate. Syanage compared this feature to P7 and UZI. The M9 Electric guns will be out in September.
Syanage has not put the images up but after the M9 GBB Marui plan to release the CZ 75 1st version and the Sig 229.
UK's National AirSoft Association
Maccar26 sent this:
Quote:Hey there!
Hope you are well, and resolve your ISP problems soon. I've overhauled my website, and it's moved home as well. It is now also the home of the UK's National Airsoft Association and also 'Blow Back' the new Airsofting magazine in the UK (which will hit the shops before August). I would be very grateful if you could give it a few words in the new news section.
... You're still the first most popular website, and nobody can take your efforts in the sport away from you.
Please have a look at my site, as I think you will approve. I've taken the plunge and bought myself a special URL, changed the layout, content and
presentation style as well.
It's at: http://www.airsoft.org
You will be pleased to know that the sport is exploding in the UK this year, and next year looks set to be an absolute cracker. Although we aren't anywhere near the size of Paintball, serious in-roads are being made.
Happy hunting (and best wishes)

BlackRain7 = Killer Studio's US Distributor
I've received a lot of inquiries as to how to acquire the Killer Studio CyberAUG like the one I own... and the answer was always, "only from Japan." As it turns out, the answer could change very soon... Go check out what JetLegend at BlackRain7 says.
Quote:Killer Studio showed Blackrain7 an excellent time as usual, but this time they had a secret agenda. They asked BR7 to represent them in the U.S. So we are now the new Killer Studio distributer in the U.S and will be offering all of Killer Studio's unique products here in the States immediately.

Metal Gear Solid LAMP Unit for HK MK23
Here's some awesome stuff I found on a BAASH-mate's site BillyBob's AirSoft Jamboree
Quote:Metal Gear Solid fans rejoice!! Finally a LAMP unit that's like the one Solid Snake has on his Mk23. Airsoft Fans can also rejoice sinc however this thing cost it can't be anywhere near the cost of the Wilcox unit. I don't have much infomation at this time since I can't see to find the issue of Combat with the AD for this model. . As you can tell from the picture, this unit can fit a small light unit or a laser aimer in a recess in the center. You have to figure out how to get it so you can turn it on and off. The unit is made by ModelWorks Clinic and MSRP for 8,820 Yen.
SystemA USA
APEC sent exciting news about SystemA USA... Click Here for all the juicy details.
Quote:ASIA PACIFIC AIRSOFT proudly brings to you the best upgraded guns from SYSTEMA's technical experts in Japan!
Since APEC has joined forces with SYSTEMA and opened the new SYSTEMA U.S.A., APEC now has the ability to bring to you the most sought after airguns in Japan. Each airgun is upgraded to the best standards possible. Almost all parts are top notch after-market products and every piece is metal, except for the handguards. SYSTEMA gives you their best right down to its own gears and mechaboxes.
They can even customize your gun to suit your playing style. If you bought a stock airgun and modified each part so that it would match the SYSTEMA guns it would not only cost you more, but you would be basically buying another gun. You would have all the parts of your old gun, plus a modified one.
Instead of spending many hours and lots of extra money modifying your guns, why not let the experts at SYSTEMA do it for you. The SYSTEMA Signature Series Electric Airguns are the worlds best. All it takes is one opportunity to fire one of these beauties for you to realise the difference.
18-round One-Blast Pistol!
Here's some awesome stuff I found on a BAASH-mate's site BillyBob's AirSoft Jamboree
Quote:A 18 Round One Shot Pistol! Yea, that's right. a handy airsoft player made a pistol around the Angus 40mm round for the Sun Project M203. We are talking all 18 BBs shooting all at once from a pistol. Talk about a back up weapon.
Toronto Game... Sunday, June 13
The ever-intrepid Poncho is organizing another GTA game.
Quote:WASEGA BEACH
June 13th, 1999 12:00 ~ 4:00 PM
COSTS: $25 per person, $20 per rental (H&K MP5, 2 clips, 1000 Rounds)
RULES: Barrel Plugs and proper eye protection a MUST. Wire mesh goggles are no longer allowed (Sorry dudes!)
Scenarios I'd like to try:
BLACK BOX retrieval revised - Two teams compete for possession and reclamation of a downed spy plane's black box (A real black box this time!!!), and secure it back at one's base. One team must follow a way point route (Special Forces Instertion Team) whereas the opposing team must disperse into small patrol groups. Special Forces Insertion team is the only element that knows the approximate location of the Black Box. However, opposing team is on full alert. Stealth and speed are the key. You're worst enemy will be the heat and fatigue.
DESERT OP - Using my crazy idea's about the dunes sections at Wasega, it would make for an interesting scenario. Imagine if you will (And I am sure it happened because there are stories) a bad insertion gone worse. US ARMY Blackhawk crashes in desert, crew survives. Opposing Army must advance and either capture or eliminate crew, however they must advance over open desert! Cover will be minimal, and grounded helicopter crew will have mostly rifles, but limited maneuverability. 3rd Spec Forces Extraction Team will enter game at midpoint. Let that mess sort itself out...(You could even throw in the use of MEDICS, imagine a medic scrambling across open desert to rescue injured, under fire...
THINGS TO BRING: Drinks, drinks and more drinks. Dehydration will be a serious possibility. Headaches, cramps are early signs, and if not treated, you will feel wiped out for the rest of the week. Good luck getting out of bed on Monday.
Hope to see you all there, and we should have a really good time!
If you need anything, call me at 416-708-4440 or email me here or at poncho@yahoo.com (PS - I don't check this email address during the weekend!)"

1999 Canadian Airsoft Challenge July 10/11
Lawrence sent this:
Quote:The Airsoft tournament is coming up in July 10th and 11th. Just giving you an update.
There will be three different competitions with three different prizes.
IPSC Shoot - Western Arms Hi-cap .45
Hogan's Alley - H&K MP5K
Rifle Shoot - G3 SG-1
The prizes are dependent upon the number of articipants. Fewer than 40 competitors preregistering will mean a reduction to a Desert Eagle, Ingram M11,
and G3 A3 or A4.
The IPSC Shoot will follow IPSC rules and format. There are two sections. The first is a basic El Presidente drill with 3 targets. The shooter remains in a shoot box and fires two bb's into each target. The second section is a progressive shoot. The shooter starts behind a wall and leans around it to fire at one target with two bb's. He then runs to the second shoot box and shoots at two more targets with two bb's each. Accuracy and total time will be combined for a total score and all shooters will be ranked.
The Hogan's Alley will use IPSC targets on a special reactive target stand. The targets start with their edges facing the shooter and flip to reveal a shoot or
no shoot side. The shooter must put two bb's into each shoot target while not shooting the no shoot targets. There are three sections with two targets in the first two and three in the last. Accuracy and overall time are combined for the total score.
The Rifle Shoot will have 5 small electric targets anywhere within a distance of 20 feet to 100 feet. The shooter must shoot all 5. Overall time will be used for rankings.
In each competition, misses and overshooting cost as penalties. Safety rules will be adhered to although we will be issuing warning first rather than
disqualifications. This is the first tournament of it's kind and I wish to build a friendly and fun filled atmosphere.
There will be a recreational game on the Sat (July 10th) starting from 6pm to 9 or 10pm. We will have use of the entire paintball field for that game.
Also, the Canadian Amateur Paintball tournament will be running at the same time and 500 paintball players will be competing while we are shooting. This will be
the biggest promotional event for airsoft so far. If airsoft is to grow as a sport we must compete in these types of events as often as we can.
Entrance is $65 which covers all events for both days. People must register with either myself or at both Autowings Models Company locations at Pacific Mall
and 1st Markham Place. People must register by June 30th.
Tournament bb's will be on sale for $10 Can for 1000 bb's. Barrel plugs are mandatory and the velocity limit will be 400 fps. 350 fps for the recreational
game.
Please post this as soon as you can. My email is song@eclipse-trading.com and there is some information on our webspace but not much at the moment. Thank you
for your help. I hope to see you soon.

ARTsenal is for REAL!
As many of my buddies know, I like to meet up with fellow airsoft'rs whereever and whenever I travel. So when I went to LA for E3, how could I pass up the opportunity to visit the amazing ARTsenal?! Despite a packed schedule, I managed to carve out an evening of quality time to share with ARTsenal and his impressive collection of airsoft, real steel, replicas, props, etc. Fortunately, Genghis accompanied me and had the presence of mind to bring a snazzy new digital camera. He became so enraptured with the photo shoot that he began to delete work-related pictures that he took at E3!
However, mere photos cannot possibly do ARTsenal's vault of arms justice! You must simply see it to believe it! Anyways, I'll post the photos as soon as Genghis stops drooling long enough to give them to me.
I hope to write up more details of the visit soon, but I need to get back to work... of course, after I post some of the news people have kindly sent me. Yes, please keep the emails coming! I'll do my best to get to as many of them as I can!
BTW ART's airsoft 'zine is looking great!

Replisoft in SoCal
Neil of Replisoft sent this:
Quote:I thought I'd re-introduce myself again and hopefully give the So. Cal. airsofters who visit your site a more detailed information on the only airsoft dedicated walk-in store in the LA area (and as far as I know, in the whole U.S.). I have just recently opened my shop, Replisoft, in the city of Arcadia, which is just a few miles north of downtown Los Angeles and is right beside the city of Pasadena (Rose Bowl). I carry the complete line of airsoft units form regular springs to the full AEG's. Including some of the more exotic (rare) gas units from Kokusai, Maruzen and the like.
I have e-mailed you all the information about a month ago (a couple of days before my official opening) but I guess, somehow, it did not get to you. Anyway, here is my complete address :
Replisoft
Santa Anita Mall
400 South Baldwin Ave.
Arcadia, CA 91007
phone: (626) 574-3100
Finally, I'd like to give you "props" for your site. Airsoft would not be where it is today had it not been for x-ring. If there is anything I could do to help you in any shape or form, please do not hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Neil de Vela
Quote:If you are a regular to the airsoft scene, you know that California does boast a group of very fine, dependable Airsoft Retailers. CQB, MFI, and others have provided wonderful mail-order service for the past few years. But SoCal residents, prepare to have your socks knocked off!
Airsoft history has been made with the opening of the only walk-in store in the UNITED STATES! If you missed the first posting on X-ring about
this exciting new development, get your two cents right here. The name of the store is Replisoft, and as far as I can tell, business is booming. The owner of the store is both knowledgeable and helpful, and delivers friendly service, excellent attitude, and an impressive collection of airsoft items. Evidently, the folks in LA have been quite receptive to the store, as Replisoft continues to sell-out on almost all the shipments that come in! Although the store stocks an impressive collection of springers, gas, and electrics, popular items like the MP5 variants and the new M4A1 move like cold lemonade on a hot summer day. Make no mistake, SoCal residents! If you have not seen or held an actual airsoft gun first hand, then this is the place you NEED to go! If you are new to the sport, fear not, you will not be alone. Hundreds of people have asked the questions "What is airsoft?" only to be awed by an extremely satisfying explaination and demonstration of the weapons. If you are a veteran, you have no idea how many like yourself have been in the hiding (right in your own neighborhood!) until Replisoft came along. However, if you are not over 18, Replisoft must sadly reject your business, as it will not sell to any minors without the express signature of a parent/guardian to release Replisoft from any responsibility. It's nice to see that Airsoft is truly making a run in the US, and hopefully we can see airsoft continue to grow healthily in America!
But there is more reason to celebrate, SoCal residents! An airsoft club has been formed and is officially sponsored by replisoft. SoCal player have the option of joining a team for the first time. That's right, folks. No more backyard plinking with your friends in the middle of the night (although that is fun!). Finally we can enjoy the game of airsoft as it was meant to be enjoyed: organized indoor/outdoor MilSim/TacSim games! Already the club has had a pre-enlistment meeting and the turnout revealed an optimistic future for airsoft in LA. As a new club, we still have many things to accomplish. Our name, LA Airsoft is our club's actual name, and oversees the individual units (teams) that will be forming. We are now conducting a contest for team badges/logos. We are working out alliances with locallaw enforcement to gain both their support and help (Please see the wepages below for more info). But while LA Airsoft is an up and coming interest group, it is making its home in a very unstable and concerned world. The sadness of the Colorado shooting has not been good for airsoft, but to assure the longevity of the club, we have made it our first priority to see that things are done in a proper and law abiding manner. The man in charge of it all, The Saint, says:
"[There are] lots of issues arising from the CO shooting as well as copycats and anxiety from law enforcements and Feds. I don't blame them either. Kids and guns don't mix well! LA Airsoft will be taking a stand NOT to allow membership to minors (<18yrs old), due to legalities and such. The ONLY way that I'd allow for a minor to skirmish is if he or she has a legal guardian/ parent to join in the event as well as sign documentation to release LAAS from any responsibility...Wisdom tells me that we should proceed with every caution and be willing to sacrifice immediate gratification for the desired anticipation for a hopeful future for airsoft."
So please continue to support this, SoCal residents. In order to see our club grow and flourish, we must work together and contribute to the cause. Hopefully, Replisoft and LA Airsoft will see the light past recent issues, and help give airsoft a good reputation in the US.

APEC AEG Blowout!
APEC is clearing out some of the AEGs (some even with extra mags!) at the lowest prices I've seen for a North American retailer... How low? How about dropping into the $300 USD range?!
For example, the Steyr AUG package includes the AEG, battery, charger, one high-capacity mag, & an extra standard mag. The Steyr AUG package goes for only $364.95 USD (military version for $409.95 USD).
This includes UPS shipping in Canada or the U.S.
And, the FA-MAS Super Version package includes the AEG, battery, charger, & 2 extra high-capacity magazines. FA-MAS package goes for only $339.95 USD! This includes UPS shipping in Canada or the U.S.

Customs Seizures in Canada
Here's something that I'll repost from the Fire At Will section. It was originally posted by Peter regarding his efforts to defend a Canadian even though the guy purchased it from overseas! Wow! Be sure to post your thoughts to the Discus Board...
Quote:Hi this is Peter from Asia Pacific we just received word from a person in Ontario who had his M60E3 seized! He had purchased it in Hong Kong and when he had it shipped over to Canada it got seized. As some of you may know Bill C68 has been implemented in Dec 1st of 98 since then the bills says that no replicas shall enter into Canada. Our Airguns are not replicas they are Airguns. Since Airguns have the capability to shoot a projectile at high velocitys and are capable of causing serious harm or damage they are classified as Firearms. Since our Airguns do not shoot over 500 feet per second they do not have to be registered or you do not have to have a permit to import.
This person received a letter from Canada Customs saying that his Airgun is a Prohibited Weapon and will be detained for seizure. (First of all if the customs officer wanted to claim it as being a Replica it should say a Prohibited Device not a weapon!)
Our guns are Airguns not Replicas because they have the ability to shoot a projectile. We were assured by the Canadian Firearms Centre that our Airguns would be exempt from the new bill.
We'll where is the Canadian Firearms Centre now ? They have changed there tune and are now saying that Airguns that shoot harmless pellets are also considered replicas that is not what the sight had read up until March 99. I think i still have a copy of the webpage sight where it said that replicas that are capable of shooting a projectile are not to be considered as replicas and are exempt from Bill C68.
Any ways the letter said he had 90 days to appeal the decision.
ASIA PACIFIC is backing this person up 100% and is currently hiring a lawyer to assist with the appeal. Even though the airgun was not purchased through AP we feel that we need to help this gentlemen out because once a decision is made to classify his airgun as a replica this will set up a precedent and affect future shipments of airgun imports in Canada.
AP is hiring a lawyer and is helping with the appeal. I ask of you people in the Airsoft Community to email me at Peter_Kang@bc.sympatico.ca and state your name ,address and telephone #.
If you could please right SOS in the subject matter and write that you feel the seizure of the Airgun was done unfairly because it is not a replica. If the investigating officer and Canada Customs has decided to reinterpret the law. We are prepared to sue Canada Customs and fight it in Court.
Asia Pacific has a permit to import and re export these items to the US so none of you guys have to worry about your orders. AP also has a warehouse in Japan for anyone looking to buy rare or gas guns from us in the near future.
Please assist us because this will determine the future of Airsoft in NA. I would welcome everyone to send me a email including US and overseas people because if Canada Customs finds out that this person is not just one person but a whole association of people i think they will think twice about their actions.
NOWS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION !

* offers Delta Tek, a CD collection of over 30 Spec Ops filed manuals;
* offers Delta School -- airsoft training using US Navy SEAL tactics; and
* offers Delta Media for prospective advertisers who want to help airsoft grow.
