IGHLIGHTS
This game will be based on your ability to hunt down and destroy those pesky El Quada and Talaban fighters. This game will be tactically challenging so bring plenty of BB's, back up batteries, water, lunch and your friends. Because this play site is hard to get to it is vital that you are at my home by 10:15am to convoy to that site. If you are late, sorry! The address is 504 Trail Drive, Moss Landing, CA 95039 (internet maps are very good)

This is the 2000-2001 catalog, but then again, Tokyo Marui has a reputation for releasing a little behind schedule. Click on the photo for more info. By X-ring! on Wednesday, January 2, 2002 - 9:12 pm: Mike Force Game on Sunday, Jan.6 WOW! The first game of the year! Sunday, January 6th.In memory of the brave Special Forces and Eastern Alliance fighters we will reenact the battle at Tora Bora. We have secured the playing field known as the Punch Bowl and it is there we will be punching it out. Now is the time to test out those new airsoft toys and introduce a friend to our great sport. Bring your lunch, lots of bbs, batteries for heavy fire fighting. By X-ring! on Tuesday, January 1, 2002 - 11:27 am: Happy New Year! This marks the beginning of the fifth year of the X-ring AirSoft Hobby Site. As airsoft veterans recall, many other websites have come and gone. Indeed, X-ring's has undergone changes itself over the years. Don't be surprised to see more changes coming!
By X-ring! on Monday, November 19, 2001 - 9:07 pm: BAASH Inaugurates Sky Londa! On Saturday, November 17th, BAASH inaugurated the new Sky Londa property with a day of historical re-enactment... as well as some intense action. All participants were quite accurately outfitted as SEAL, PRU, Force Recon, NVA, VC, and Soviet. The first scenario had SEAL, PRU, and Force Recon running recon operations in VC-controlled territory. The second scenario re-enacted the NVA/VC assault on the Marine firebase on Hill 558. The third and fourth sessions were bonus games and were not typical of BAASH scenarios -- rather than focus on the quiet completion of mission objectives, the two sides engaged in massive firefights in a race to grab the box and bring it back to the respective base. The Sky Londa property is 100 acres of beautiful old-growth redwood forest with some incredible modifications, including bunkers, forts, watch towers, communication towers, etc. Mere photos cannot do it justice -- Sky Londa must be experienced! Digital video footage was recorded during the day, and is available to BAASH members and guests.
By X-ring! on Friday, October 19, 2001 - 12 noon: Thanks for the Kudos!... Anyway fast forward to the late 90's and the Internet rage. Web surfers could pretty much find out information, globally, about anything they wanted or info about things they didn't even know about. I remember a casual search for softair, to find info about my long ago hobbies of youth, came back with sites like Campobase and X-Ring. I gotta give props where props are due and X-ring was the pioneering web site for the boom in airsoft interest here in the states. Without it, who knows how long it would be before we found out about this great hobby. With it's news and forums, one could find all the info needed about airsoft. By X-ring! on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 - 9:40 am: Cimmerian Photos By X-ring! on Monday, October 15, 2001 - 10:32 pm: Mike Force Report WOW! Hot! Hot! and Hot! Hot: Yesterdays game was very fire intense. The players fought it out in this reenactment of Hamburger Hill. 25% of the players started in the attack mode up a hill that 75% of the player were defending a flag. In the first half of the game our happy go lucky attackers decided to trail blaze through the thick brush (I think they were looking for the North West passage of Louis and Clark fame :) ). But when they decided to press the attack they did so with much flurry. At the end of the first period of play two defenders stood standing. One of the two players took five bad guys out with his pistol alone. By X-ring! on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 2:23 pm: "Airsoft" Swords... Full-contact, Full-speed sparring! As many of you know, I am into a broad range of combat arts, including full-contact sparring and the sword arts. For a while, I've been using specialized equipment (same as what several branches of the military will be using for close-quarters non-firearms weapons training) for full-contact, full-speed sword sparring. While my preference is for the long sword, there are many alternatives including: short sword, staff, spear, police baton, tonfa, escrima stick, and even nunchuck. This type of free-sparring is excellent cross-training for mil- and tac-sim airsoft skirmishes because it really, REALLY pushes your mental and physical limits, so that you perceive, process, and execute lightning fast. It's difficult to explain until you've tried it. Here are some video clips of advanced practitioners in the dojo: Free-sparring video#1 (approx.10MB) Free-sparring video#2 (approx.7MB) Like airsoft guns, this combat gear offers excellent simulation of the real thing. Plus, it's much more PC to do in public places! If you're interested in learning more about this, contact me at airsoft_X@hotmail.com. By X-ring! on Sunday, October 7, 2001 - 9:28 pm: Mike Force Game on Oct.14th On October 14th a very intense battle re-enactment will be played. In 1968 Hamburger Hill was fought and won by the 101st Airborne. This game will require lots of ammo and skill! Bring a friend and your lunch for an outstanding game of
airsoft. By X-ring! on Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:45 am: Into the Wolf's Lair UK ![]() BTW in the photo, Lee is in the center; Max is on the left; and Herman (aka Dolphin #1) is on the right. DoG #1 also stopped by, and succumbed to urge to buy a magnificent custom-made bolt-action sniper rifle. We then gathered a good group for beers at a local pub and a late dinner of Indian cuisine. By X-ring! on Monday, September 24, 2001 - 2:37 pm: Amazing Shots ![]() By X-ring! on Friday, September 21, 2001 - 2:07 pm: Shootout with SWAT3
As promised, here's one of several photos taken a few weekends ago when the
Sierra Studios SWAT3 dev-team challenged me
and my company to a "friendly game" of paintball. Of course, I much
prefer airsoft, but we simply could not get enough
airsoft hardware to loan to over 25 participants... so we resorted to paintball
(this time!). This photo was taken at the end of the day... a third of the crew
already departed, and many of the remainder were changing into their civvies.

By X-ring! on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 11:37 pm [London, ENGLAND, UK]: Meeting with Dolphin #1 and a NinjaMonkey Tonight I had the pleasure of meeting with "H" (aka Dolphin #1) and "John" (a member of Team NinjaMonkey, if my beer-adled brain recalls correctly). We had a few pints of John Smith's at The Moon Under Water Pub and tasty English cuisine at Yates, both at Leicester Square... literally within spitting distance from the Thistle Picadilly, the hotel at which I'm staying until I go to Ireland tomorrow afternoon. I return to London on Saturday evening, and then stay at Covent Gardens for a week before flying back to the US. "H," "John" and I discussed the growth of airsoft in the UK... as well as new developments such as the "airsoft-paintball" M-4 about which someone keeps emailing me. We also talked about the various goodies at Wolf Armory, where "H" and "John" work. For example, custom-built gas-powered claymores. Wolf Armory also has colored tracer rounds! They also mentioned that Kevin of Q-branch (see entries about my UK trip in January 2001... in the news archives for January 2001) is doing special projects for Wolf Armory. I'll share more info *after* I visit the shop next week! Unfortunately, Arnie of Arnie's AirSoft could not make it tonight, even though he was the one who helped make the meeting happen... Hey, there's always next week! By X-ring! on Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 8:52 pm: X-ring in the UK... again! The travelling never seems to stop! I'm supposed to be in CA tomorrow and Friday. Last week, I was in CA (again!). The week earlier, I was in CA (again!) and TX. The week before that, I was in TX (again!)... Too much time in airports, and not enough time playing! Anyways, I'll be in the UK from August 27th through September 8th. If you'd like to meet for a warm pint or three, please email me at airsoft_X@hotmail.com. Cheers mate! By X-ring! on Monday, August 6, 2001 - 9:12 pm: P90 MechBox Dis-Assembly Russ sent these instructions:
These are pictures of the Type 6 mechbox from my Marui P90. Removal of this box from the gun is a breeze, taking less than 3 minutes with
a single Phillips screwdriver.
By X-ring! on Wednesday, July 26, 2001 - 2:06 pm: P90 Hi-Cap Mags Available from MFI The P90 is a sweet AEG, but it was quickly apparant to me that it really needs a hi-cap mag to maximize the fun! Keep in mind that I'm normally a big proponent of standard mags... but if you've handled the P90, then you know how I feel. Well, the wait is over! MFI now has 300-round magazines for the Tokyo Marui P-90 AEGs available for as little as $40 USD! A big plus to this unique design is that the ammo is much less likely, if at all, to rattle around. Although the high-capacity magazines do not have the dummy cartridges that the standard-capacity magazines have, the see-through polymer on the high-capacity magazines make it easy to visually check the amount of ammo remaining. Click on the images above for blown-up versions of the instruction manual and technical diagram. http://www.mfiap.com/airsoft/acce/toc.htm#p90 Check back soon for photos and more information! By X-ring! on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 9:38 am: Cimmerian Game Tomorrow, July 21 Capt Kirk sent this notice: ATTENTION CIMMERIANS/ATTENTION AIRSOFT WARRIORS planning to attend this Saturday's skirmish at the fabulous new Woodchuck AO! Please be advised that special fire prevention regulations are in force throughout the Tahoe National Forest at this time. This impacts our group with regard to parking of vehicles. No vehicle can park anywhere other than on a road or in a designated parking area! Because our staging site is some distance from the actual Woodchuck Flat campground, it will be necessary to shuttle all players arriving on Saturday morning to our selected staging area. Accordingly, BE SURE THAT ALL YOUR GEAR AND EQUIPMENT IS PORTABLE! ALL BATTERIES SHOULD BE FULLY CHARGED! All vehicles arriving Saturday are to park in the paved parking lot which you'll find right where the dirt road begins. We will have representatives in the parking area to point out parking places and coordinating the shuttle vehicles which we hope to have departing the parking lot every ten minutes or so. We therefore ask that everyone ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 0830! The last shuttle vehicle departs the parking lot at 0900 SHARP! WE REGRET THAT LATE ARRIVALS WILL BE SOL. ALSO! Please DO NOT ARRIVE IN CAMOUFLAGE CLOTHING! While our presence is completely legal and has the sanction of the Yuba City Ranger District, we do not wish to draw undue attention to our planned activities, so please arrive in civilian attire, and change into your BDUs at the staging area. Your cooperation is appreciated! See you at Woodchuck! By X-ring! on Friday, July 20, 2001 - 9:28 am: Mike Force Game on July 22 This
game will have all of its participants divided into four equally color marked
teams. The object of the game is to place each one of your teams colored
flags at the base of the other three teams before placing the last which is the
fourth flag into the middle flag station equally between all four teams.
Here is the catch; only one flag is in motion at a time and each July 22nd at Dr. King's field, 504 Trail Dr., Moss Landing, Calif. 95039 The briefing starts at 10:30 am. Also bring out airsoft items for our mini swap meet. Please email me if you can make it and please spread the word! By X-ring! on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 10:06 am: X-ring and SWAT3 at Op: Blackjack! I've rounded up several members of the SWAT3 dev team to participate in PSAC's Operation BlackJack which is scheduled for September 8th and 9th. Hopefully, I'll be back from the UK in time!
